PS3 came out today at 12am in US and Canada
only 400,000 copies are available today and most of the stores sold them out in 20 minutes.

Some people were waiting in line for 24-48hrs under pouring rain
Price of the system $654 for the 60GB system
Games cost about $70

Sony announced to supply only 2,000,000 systems in the first year, which is muuuuuch bellow the demand.

What do you think? will you try to get one ASAP or wait for a year or two when the prices drop? Do you think it's a good system tobuy? the price? would you buy PS2 for $100 now?

Haha, I saw all the scrubs waiting outside futureshop and bestbuy and Hillcrest Mall today trying to get their PS3's. Good opportunity to make some money off desperate people on e-bay, though. The prices for PS3's are sky high. Personally, I haven't bought anythng since PSOne, and I'm glad I haven't wasted money on any other toys.

yea, they are selling PS3 for $2,500-3,500 on ebay. thats very good money if you sell it. I guess waiting in line for 2 days might be worth it for some people

With PS3, you get blue-ray technology (the way of the future, 25Gb on one disc) and a bunch more I guess - if you're a gamer you just want the latest usually though.

I saw people waiting outside my store, I thought they were hobos at first, today I saw a lineup for Wii (again, I think it's pretty stupid)

I know employees have tried to buy it, but we were not allowed to. And some stores have PS3s in stock, but they are not allowed to sell/release them - fucking retarded in my opinion.

Most people who stood in line, just sold it on ebay and got their money doubled or tripled. Some people though were just "place holders" - paid 100-500 bucks to stand in line, hold the spot for a rich person, what do they care, if they're homeless might as well make good money.

And I checked out ebay today, some idiots are selling it for prices of 40K, I even saw a 1 million dollar starting bid auction. But ebay is flooded with PS3s nowdays, I think the real rush will begin around X-mas, and if I'm correct, Sony isn't planning to release anymore until AFTER the new year. Though what's great, is that places like Future Shop is giving great deals on Xbox 360s - guaranteed in stock, bunch of free shit (games, controllers, etc.)

xbox 360 is basiclaly just xbox part 2, PS3 is basically just PS2 part 2...the only reasl different is a slight improvement on graphics and detail and larger discs. theirfore both systems are not really next generation and dont impress me much really...

ill stick with PC which will always be more powerful then a console and Wii

First of all, anyone who knows anything about consoles or PC gaming will laugh at your post. It's like saying XP is just a fancier version of 98, not a real difference just improvement on graphics and detail and faster operations....LOL....and the whole point of consoles is that they ARE more powerful then PC's for a fraction of the cost. Any COMPUTER that is superior to an XBOX 360 will cost you thousands. I would like you to define what you consider next generation?

Sony uses a brilliant strategy to make millions with this new systems.

they restrict their supply as much as they can, knowing that millions of people want to buy one. this way they will keep their prices high for a long period of time, earning stable revenue on the yearly basis.
PS3 and xbox 360 were made for the future generation.

right now games are not as sophisticated as the systems. However they will get more and more sophisticated in the future.

These systems will be on the market for the next 5-8 years.
Technology is constantly evolving, systems must keep up with it for some time in the future.

i think its ur post that is amusing...consoles cant compete with a top of the line gaming rig...a top of the line rig is around 2500$ but even a computer at 1500 has more graphical power and speed.

next gen is new and innovative, something we havent seen before that changes the industry, thats what wii did....360 and PS3 havent done that
