I still've time...but Im freaking out! how hard is it? its hard to get in, but once youre in i heard its even harder not to drop out!

mannn the more i think about it, the more stressed out i get!

it's not as hard to get in as you think...i mean they always told us all these scary stories and made us panic, but in reality if you have a decent average, you'll be fine. This does not mean, however that you should just slack off...it just means don't panic about it, for worrying really wont help.

It's all about the drive, if you're willing to do it, then you will...if your not, then you wont.

University is all about time management and drive. If you have the drive, you will manage your time well because you know your future may very well depend on it.

Only go if you are ready, otherwise you will lose your motivation rather quickly!

Basically, I got the same marks in university that I got in high school (mid 80s). The only difference is that I spent a lot more time on work than I did in high school. Everything moves much faster, if an high school you do a unit in two weeks worth of class, in uni you might do a unit in one or two two hour classes. Reading the textbook is a must for most courses.

Then there's the bell curve. You have to remeber that each course has not only a pre-determined average, but a pre-determined grade distribution (i.e. 20% get A's, 30% get B's, 30% get C's, 15% get D's, and 5% fail). As such, if a test is hard and everyone fails, the marks will get curved up, and you can watch that 40% turn into 80% (this actually happens to my friends in the engineering programs in waterloo). So it doesn't really mark what your mark is, it matters what your mark is relative to the average. The bell curve will do the rest. A good rule of thumb is to stay 15-20% above the average because the average is ually in the mid 60's. 15-20% above puts you in the A range.

Oh yeah, then there's the social life. I'll let you find that out for yourself, but it depends a lot on what uni you go to. For example, my campus has next to no social life. If you go to York or Western, it's party non-stop. Careful though, because a few of my friends failed first year as a result of partying.

I'm off to Nipissing next year for Criminology. Way up in North Bay, but apparently despite the fact that not many people know about it, it's apparently a great place for parties, which is what i like!

University is 1000x better than highschool, you get so much more freedom. Basically yeah its all about time management and dedication. You should also get to know your profs well so in the end they can help u with ur marks. I have a 3.67 GPA and I did all the things listed above.

aww thats awesome. as much as im excited for university, its not the social aspect that worries me, its mostly the educational...cuz its paid, your money's gone if you flunk something and its a lot of work and im not the most organized gal out there!
